2007 Peacekeeping & Peacebuilding Policy Forums

• On January 29th, the PEP convened a policy forum, focused on developing strategies for dealing with the UN peacekeeping funding crisis.
• Participants reviewed the PEP analysis spreadsheet for Contributions for International Peacekeeping Activities (CIPA). There was broad agreement on the numbers, although specific questions and concerns were raised. There was agreement that regardless of the chances at success, it is not unreasonable for the group to ask for what is needed. The alternative is agreeing to face an even bigger problem in one year’s time.

• Ask for FY08 Budget for CIPA = $1.7 billion
