    The first two Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) AH-64D Apaches have arrived in Mali where they are contributing to the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). They will be joined by another two aircraft in the first time the type has been used for UN peacekeeping operations.

    21 May 2014 – The United Nations peacekeeping mission in South Sudan today demanded unhindered freedom of movement for its workers after alleged members of South Sudan's security forces assaulted and illegally detained two UN staff.

    The UN Mission in the country (UNMISS) “remains concerned about incidents, including assault, detention and harassment of its staff, that have recently occurred and exposed its personnel to serious security risks,” a UN spokesperson said.

    With increasing frequency, Balkan militaries are assigning female soldiers and support personnel to peacekeeping missions where they greatly contribute to the missions' success, officials said. The Macedonian military announced a woman will lead its peacekeeping contingent in the ALTEA mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

    Kalma Camp — The leaders of Kalma camp in Nyala locality, South Darfur, have decided that there must be a Unamid protection unit at the camp. They threatened to stop Unamid policemen from their irregular patrolling at the camp, in case the unit is not established within five days.
